“ Good restaurant with excellent food but in the evening it's a bit deserted. We visited on a Saturday evening in March and there weren't many customers. I thought that the lady serving us could have been a bit warmer, but when we told her how much we'd enjoyed the food, she thawed out a bit. I would imagine that the views over the beach and sea are stunning during the day, which is probably why people don't visit after sunset. ”
“ Nice house wine. arroz de marisco with bit overcooked rice. A big no to the black sausage as a starter. Bit long wait but it was peak so justified. 4 stars for good waiter service and views. Could pay more attention to chicken dishes as bit dry. ”
“ This restaurant has a fantastic setting on the top of the hill looking out over Alvor marina. It has good access but very limited parking unless you park in the main car park and climb a long flight of stairs to get to it. It’s very spacious inside and has a beautiful courtyard with glass windows all around to protect you from the wind. The food was ok, I can’t rate it any higher than that. I went with my wife and two friends. My wife and I had the monk fish cataplana this I thought was highly overpriced and really lacked substance. One friend had salmon and one grilled sea bass, this was delivered whole with no offer to fillet it at the table. But apparently it was very tasty. Desert was banoffee pie and apple pie both very good there was about 6 options. If you are looking for something different go there but don’t expect to be wowed. ”
“ We ate at the Casa do Rio Restaurante for my birthday in October 2024 and enjoyed it so much that we took friends there the following night for dinner. The restaurant is in a lovely location overlooking the marina and estuary of the Ria de Alvor. It has indoor and outdoor seating and a pleasant courtyard type feel. The fish on offer was very fresh - although I went for the Portuguese sausage to start followed by the Portuguese style steak and which I thoroughly recommend. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and chatty and really made the whole experience even more special. ”
